Day 1: Arrival in Colombo+ Pinnawala Elephant orphanage Transfer to Kandy. Visit Pinnawala Elephant orphanage. One of the most popular attractions of Sri Lanka, the 24 acres Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is a safe and protected environment for the wild Asian elephants. 40 kilometers from Kandy, here one could see elephants bathing, feeding and enjoying various activities. It was established in 1975 by the Sri Lanka Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC).
